Rutherford, Radioactivity and the Future of Physics

In normal times, we’d be doing a number of shows and talks at The Royal Institution throughout the year. So we’re delighted to be teaming up with them to do this special online event to celebrate Ernest Rutherford and his discoveries.

Often dubbed the ‘Father of the Nuclear Age’, Ernest Rutherford’s pioneering, and Nobel Award winning, discoveries in nuclear physics and radioactivity changed the way we see and understand the world forever.

This year marks 150 years since his birth and so The Cosmic Shambles Network are hosting a night at the Royal Institution, where Rutherford was once the Professor of Natural Philosophy.

Join Robin Ince, Dr Helen Czerski, and a myriad of incredible guests including Prof Jim Al-Khalili, Prof Jon Butterworth, Dr Linda Cremonesi and Sunayana Bhargava, as they host a night to celebrate, and discuss, Rutherford, the scientific legacy of his discoveries and the future of physics.

LIVE, 7.00pm to 8.30pm, Tuesday 27 April. Register here.

Registration is required to attend this event. These online events are free for everyone to access, but there is a pay what you can option. In the same way that Patreon is extremely important to Shambles right now, donations are an extremely important source of support for the RI in the current climate.
