David Baddiel is a British comedian, writer and TV presenter. He rose to fame as part of two separate double acts in the 1990s teaming up with Frank Skinner and then Rob Newman. Newman and Baddiel were the first comedians to completely sell out Wembley Arena in 1993. For a time he focussed predominantly on writing, penning a number of novels and children’s books as well as the film The Infidel, and more recently, the play God’s Dice. In 2013 he returned to stand up touring around the UK with new shows. His most recent book, released earlier in 2021 is Jews Don’t Count.

Once the meaning of it all was simple, if at times also cruel and/or barbaric. The Universe was made by a god, sometimes omnipotent, sometimes fractious, sometimes both. Now, as we explore the Universe and start to explain ourselves, the Universe has started to lose it single meaning and we have to find individual meanings ourselves. This is Tips for Existence where Robin Ince talks to cosmologists, composers, astronauts and authors about what gives them meaning.
Clips included in the show: Quantum Physics and God – Russell Brand, Baddiel and Skinner Unplanned, Filthy Rich Cat Flap, History Today Part 1, On fame and the death of Eli Gold, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Confronting Holocaust Denial (BBC), The Y Word, Brian Cox and Jeff Forshaw discuss The Quantum Universe, The Infidel, Richard Dawkins versus Rowan Williams: Humanity’s ultimate origins
