10 New Performers Revealed for 24 hour edition of Nine LessonsMidday December 12th
Today we’ve revealed ten new guests who’ll be taking part in our mammoth 24 hour event, Nine Lessons and Carols for Socially Distanced People which will be broadcast live from midday on December 12th.
In case you’ve missed the news, this year’s usual Nine Lessons show, as well as Robin Ince and Brian Cox’s Christmas Compendium of Reason have predictably been cancelled due to COVID-19. So instead we’re doing all the cancelled shows, in a row, for 24+ hours straight, live from Kings Place. Hopefully we will be able to welcome a few of you, socially distanced too. Tickets are here. The whole show will be broadcast live online, for free, but we encourage you to get a pay what you can virtual ticket as the event will, like the live shows, be donating all profits to charity. You can donate here.
Robin Ince will host the entire 24 hours and we’ve already announce the first 50 guests who’ll be joining us for the show, some in person, some virtually, including Brian Cox, Helen Czerski, Josie Long, Sharon D Clarke, Helen Sharman, Chris Hadfield, Jim Al-Khalili and Sophie Ellis Bextor. All in all, there will be well over 100 performers, scientists, comedians and more taking part and you can see the full list, with bios, here.
And today we’ve announced ten more special guests. They are:
• Helen Arney – Musical Comedian and Science Presenter
• Samantha Cristoforetti – Astronaut and Author
• Professor Pete Etchells – Psychologist and Author
• Dr Emma Hodcroft – Molecular epidemiologist
• Rachel House – Actress (Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Thor: Ragnarok)
• Steve Mould – Science Presenter and Writer
• Anna Phoebe – Violinist
• Nitin Sawhney – Musician
• Professor Andrea Sella – Chemist
• YVA – Musician
It’s going to be 24 hours of chaos, science and fun to round out quite the challenging year for everyone… For full information about the show head here.

This has never been more true than in 2020 when we have lost our main source of income in the form of live shows. Your support is hugely appreciated.
